Welcome!

Welcome to the Lixa Music Home Page! We're in the process of a major upgrade to the site!. Most changes will be behind the scenes, to improve functionality and performance, but the overall look will be upgraded as well. We welcome your comments about our improvements.

Lixa Music is a site that was created to provide a community for guitarists and home recording enthusiasts. Please consider this your site, provide content and suggestions for improvement. Send your suggestions and comments to webmaster@lixamusic.com.

The Members Area has items of interest to the Lixa Music community - The content varies a lot, and is an area where I can have a little fun and share information relevant to our group of members. Join Today! You won't regret it!

Guitarist's Tools

Suppose you want a certain chord, but need it in a position up the neck in order to easily get to it from another chord. Or... You've been using a certain fingering in a piece of music you wrote, but have no idea what chord that is, and knowing would make writing the bass line a whole lot easier. In either case - No Problem. Check out the Tools Section.

The Chord Calculator

You select the tones to be included, and the Calculator shows you the positions along the entire guitar neck. It is as simple as choosing how far up the neck you need to be. The Calculator can find individual notes, chords, or scales. The instruction link helps you to use it to full advantage.

The Chord Analyzer

You punch in the fingering you are playing, and the Chord Analyzer makes some educated guesses to name the chord. It assumes partial chords are being played, also, for example, a chord without the root tone (since everyone else in the band is probably playing that note). Again, an instruction page gives insight into getting the most out of this tool.

Extra Stuff!

I've written a few songs, and have included clips from some of them. Tell me what you think! Send me some of your clips. Space permitting, I'll post them for others to hear and comment on.

The reference pages are some collected wisdom about music theory. They aren't exhaustive, but I figured if I have some of this stuff figured out, I may as well share it. Besides, figuring out what to post and how to say it help me to understand. Give suggestions! I'll consider any of your work, too!

I've included a "For Sale" page. At times, I might list some gear I'd like to get rid of, but feel free to send me your ads to post. Same deal for the Gigs. Send it to me, and I'll post it!
